Last Wednesday Norway became the sixth country in the world to change the old fashioned marriage law. Now two persons, of whatever gender, that love each other and want to get married can do so and establish a family where everyone has the same rights. The day the law went through there was a beautiful interview with a lesbian couple that just had tiny little twins.
The mothers were of course in the clouds! Now they both can have the same parental rights towards the children. As the biological mother said in the interview “before this change in the law, if something happened to me my partner would not have any rights towards the children, even if she has been with me the whole time and is and will be taking equal part in bringing them up”. As the newspaper Dagbladet says: The law is a victory for love! The world is slowly becoming a better place!
